The Calm After the Storm

We just returned from a week long Ruhl family vacation in Lake Geneva, WI. It was a great time. An entire week of nothing but lakeside relaxation- what more could you ask for?

Our first night there was by far the most dramatic. We were awoken during the night by a crazy storm. We immediately lost power and spent the wee hours of the morning sitting by the window watching the incredible storm blow over the lake. It was amazing- lightning like I've never seen before. As the sun came up we went for a walk around the lake to survey the aftermath. After a loud wild storm everything seemed so quiet and still. It was actually quite beautiful.

Marshall was in his own doggy paradise helping us pick up sticks
By the time the sun came out that afternoon our power has been restored, yards had been cleaned up, and everyone had pitched in to help their neighbors moves fallen trees. You would never have guessed that a wild storm had just blown through the town.
The rest of the vacation was spent touring Lake Geneva, relaxing on our boat, fishing, and playing endless games with the family. Stay tuned for more vacation pics.
