A Project

My poor sewing machine gets zero love these days. I think it's been a year since I pulled her out for something useful. A date together was long overdue. Inspired by a few projects my friend Kirsten had been working on and my need for some new couch pillow covers, the timing seemed right.
After a little time (ie: an HOUR) getting reacquainted with my sewing machine, I was off! I am now five pillows in (three were completed with significant assistance from a very patient Kirsten). I am hoping to finish up three more this week to complete the couch pillow project.
Aren't they cute? And from afar you can't even tell how wonky my zipper work is! Thanks for all of your help Kirsten, I wouldn't have made it past purchasing the fabric without you.

I'm off to Pinterest in search of my next project! Now that the sewing gear is out and the house is a mess I might as well roll with it.

Baby Burp Cloths

It's been a year since my big impulsive Black Friday purchase, and I must be honest, the poor girl has not been used much. I figured in honor of the one year anniversary of my sewing machine it was only appropriate to dust her off and put her to good use. While there are many more exciting projects going through my pinteresty mind, I though I would start somewhere simple and baby burp cloths seemed an appropriate place to begin. The final product turned out quite cute and was certainly a fun improvement on a simple white burp cloth.
I can't wait to use them in FIVE SHORT WEEKS!! (I hope I'm not jinking myself with an urpy burpy baby for saying that!)

Project One

As previously mentioned, I have been dying to get some projects underway using my new sewing machine. Unfortunately, I could barely unwrap the thing before feeling totally overwhelmed and confused. Enter my SIL Sarah who graciously and patiently sat with me and showed me the ins and outs and ups and downs of my new little friend.
I thought I would share with you project numero uno.
My love for blog stalking those much more creative than I led me to this little baby..
What the heck is that you ask? Why it's an adorable, frilly, over-the-top camera strap cover. I semi followed the directions from this creative blog. Granted, it will be months (maybe years) before I photograph any up close and personal shots of my wonky stitching and sewing efforts but I must say that I am super happy with my first project!
Giving her a little test run. She passed.
Don't we look so happy together?!
