Zoo Lights

At our attempt for a small family birthday celebration before we have his actual birthday party, we took Calvin to Lincoln Park's Zoo Lights this past weekend. Calvin was in awe of the bright lights, loved the holiday music, and even enjoyed his first hot (cooled) cocoa. It was a birthday win... for about 10 minutes. Then the cold hit and all went south. Cal refused to keep his hat and mittens on so he was legitimately frozen and beyond upset about being restrained in his stroller. Like a good mother, I picked him up and carried him around for a while.. only for Jakob to notice that he had lost both of his socks and slippers and I had been carrying him around barefoot for God knows how long! Parenting fail. After the initial smiles and before the tears we were able to squeeze in one family photo and one of Cal enjoying his cocoa. 

We will have to attempt winter family fun at the zoo again next year. I refuse to let my kid hate the cold!
