A Green Thumb?

Last year when we were looking for a condo to buy we had one absolute must- outdoor space. After 4 years of living on a patio-less 3rd floor apartment we HAD to have some space where we could grill and sit outside.. even if it was a tiny little patio. We could no longer sneak over to our friend's houses while they were out of town to grill and sit in the sun.

We fell in love with our condo when we first walked through the door with our realtor. Large bedrooms, spacious master bath, new kitchen, fireplace.. it really had everything we were crossing our fingers for. And then we opened the door to the patio, OMG.. the patio was huge!! Where do we sign? We were 100% sold!

One of the major perks to having a patio was finally being able to plant flowers. I was so excited!
..and then we got Marshall. A puppy who loves nothing more than eating all things beautiful and green. We had 1 surprise tulip sprout up this spring and it was snatched by Marsh before I could even watch the sweet little thing bloom. We were going to have to get creative if we wanted flowers on the patio.

So we bought a few pots..
And got creative with a few old candle holders...
We even found some cheap hanging pots that we could put up on our fence- a safe and puppy free zone.
The whole patio really started coming together.
We are hoping to remove all of the rock this summer and replace it with some hearty plants and wood chips.. something slightly more visually appealing and yet puppy friendly. It should be a win/win for everyone. He's really quite excited!
Now let's hope our Mothers passed down their green thumbs down to us!
