Banana Bread w/ a Kick

I must confess, we are terrible bananas eaters over here at la casa de Ondrey. Then why are bananas always sitting in our fruit bowl you ask? Good question. The answer is I am a total Costco glutton and just cannot turn myself away from a dozen bananas for a dollar. I just can't. I always wrongly assume that a banana craving is just around the corner I must be prepared.

Long story short, we tend to have a pile of our brown speckled friends sitting around the kitchen at all times. The good thing is a absolutely love making banana bread... for the batter. I wish batter was a food group but no dice. Once the darn thing is baked it sits and gets nibbled on until we throw it out.

This morning I was staring at two sad looking bananas and thought I would try to make a banana bread with a little twist, something new for a change. My search led me to this recipe. With a few additions and minor changes I whipped up a similar spicy banana bread. I hate to brag but this baby is muy delicioso!! So much more exciting than the ordinary bread I've been making for years. Give it a whirl- it will not disappoint!

Ingredients-
3 ripe bananas (I only had 2 but 3 would have been nice)
1/3 cup melted butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbs brandy, bourbon, or rum (take your pick.. whatever you have on hand)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ginger
1 1/2 cup flour
Directions-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a bread pan. Mash bananas 'til your little heart's content.
Mix mashed bananas and melted butter.
Add brown sugar, egg, vanilla, and your booze of choice.
Gradually mix in flour and salt. Blend in spices.
Add flour and stir until well incorporated.
Pour batter into a buttered bread pan. Lick your spoon and bake for 45-50 minutes.
Let cool.
Slice.
Swoon.
