Raspberries

Calvin loves nothing more than making his little "Weesey" laugh.
I love nothing more than watching these two play together.

Rhys at Five Months

Little stinker is five months old. How did that happen?!
Rhys is seriously the happiest baby on the block. I mean that because I can hear other babies fussing in our neighborhood at all hours of the day (I kid of course). But honestly, I have absolutely zero parenting complaints with Rhysy boy lately. Happy, smiley, and drooly pretty much sums him up. And let's not forget adorable.
Rhys is napping more regularly and sleeping great at night. He wakes up once or twice to eat and goes back to bed without a fuss. (I know that I've jinxed myself now that I've said it out loud.) We are going to take the plunge and get him out of our room and sleeping in his big boy baby crib this month. It's definitely time but I'm really going to miss rolling over to see him kicking around and grinning like a fool in the morning.
Month five was a busy one filled with several walks to the park, a trip to the beach, and a few visits from the grandparents. He tried solid food for the first time and is obsessed with gnawing on anything he can get his pudgy, sticky fingers on.
We have an action packed month coming up filled with several milestones (Rhys 6 months, Cal 2.5 years, and my THIRTIETH!) as well as a few road trips and lots of other summer happenings. I promise to get a lilttle Calvin update put together soon. Poor kid gets zero blog love these days but I assure you, he gets everyone's full attention during his waking hours.
Hope your summer is off to a nice start!

Beach Boys

A few photos from our trip to the dog beach a few weeks ago.

In a nutshell..

Marshall enjoyed running free as if he's never been off a leash a day in his life.

Rhys loved being barefoot and squinted at this sun as if he's never been outside a day in his life.

Cal enjoyed tasting, throwing and rolling in the sand as if it weren't covered it dog pee.

Feed Me!!

The time had come.

Every time Rhys sat on my lap while I was eating his eyes would widen and mouth open wide as I raised my fork to my mouth. The look of disappointment when the fork touched my lips instead of his was too much to bear. And then of course, there were those ripe bananas just sitting on the counter...
Unlike with Calvin, jumping ahead to the next milestone is something I'm finding more bittersweet and less exciting. I knew exactly what was going to happen. Rhys was going to LOVE food and I was going to have to admit that my tiny little newborn is actually a chubby, curious, active, BABY (even though I still swaddle him up whenever I can and hold him to my chest like he's brand new).
Well, just as predicted, the chunk loved him some bananas.
The kid is all smiles when his belly is full. I should have known solids would be right up his alley.
And when it's over? Heaven help you.
Sweet boy hates it when dinner time comes to an end.

He's just like his mama.
